The security hub is located with
the smartwiring hub to permit interconnection of the security
system to other devices in future if required. In essence,
security systems have detectors, keypads and sirens.
Security Detectors can be motion sensors using heat or microwave
technology, point to point laser or infrared laser beams, Pressure
sensors, Magnetic Position sensors on doors and windows etc.
Keypads are used along with remote controls and dial in
facilities to set and unset the alarm. Night arm buttons by
the bed allow the system to be partially armed, for example the
door and window sensors are activated, but the occupant can walk
around inside the house without setting off the alarm. Any
keypad can also be used as a panic button to sound the sirens and
call monitoring if connected.
Sirens come in two main types - Indoor Piezo sirens to alert
occupants of a fire or activation and to drive burglars out of the
building, and external sirens to alert neighbours to an activation
and guide monitoring to the site. The presence of a siren box
on the outside of a house is also a great deterrent.
