Traditionally a POTS (plain old
telephone system) connection, many clients are now opting for the
benefits of an analogue or digital PABX (private phone exchange) or
VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone system.
A centralised phone system will allow the user to access any
phone line from any extension, transfer an incoming call to another
family member without having to run around the house trying to
track someone down.
PABX systems really come into their own when there is two or
more lines at the address and or a door phone. POTS, PABX and VOIP
systems run over the CAT6 part of the smart wiring
structure.
One of the obvious benefits of a smart wiring system is that it
is possible to start with a simple POTS system and add a PABX or
VOIP system at any future time as needs change and dictate.
